About Aubrey R.

“As a couple and family therapist, I guide my clients to find a new understanding of themselves and a comforting sense of connection. I offer my clients a safe and empowering space to process the experiences that have brought us together.

Oftentimes people turn to therapy after experiencing pain in their lives. It is my belief that to heal emotional wounds one must treat them as if they were physical wounds: dedicating the time, effort, and attention to healing well. I believe the therapeutic process to be vital to healing and to restorative growth.

My responsibility as a couple and family therapist is to help clients see how their family history, culture, and community are interwoven into creating their experiences. I help clients understand the many systems they are a part of, acknowledge the parts of themselves that are wounded, and support them towards emotional growth and healing.

While my clinical experience varies, my heart is drawn toward those experiencing divorce or separation, working with teenagers, and people impacted by the criminal justice system. I also specialize in creating an affirming space for clients who are looking to have their faith and spirituality be a part of their therapy experience.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in History as well as a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in Multicultural Contexts from Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles, CA. I spent seven years teaching at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, although most of that time was spent teaching 8th grade history. My professional experience in education taught me how deeply important it is to understand the past as we seek to make sense of the present and sculpt a desirable future.

I received my Master of Arts in Couple and Family Therapy at Adler University. My dog, Stella, and I made the move from Los Angeles to Chicago in 2019, and despite the massive climate adjustment, we have grown to love this city! My love languages are coffee, donuts, and National Parks. Everything else is just a bonus!”

“Deciding to start therapy is a brave choice. I look forward to helping you heal & grow."
