about annie t.

"I help clients who find themselves at a fork in the road of life: as they navigate the bumps in the road, the unexpected detours, and the fear of having to change the course. Together we navigate what it means to be their authentic self, the truest version of themself they have kept hidden from others. My clients often struggle with knowing which direction to go because it seems that everyone in their life has a different map and expectation for their journey. They come to therapy looking for someone to help them assess the heavy expectations and opinions of others, and increase their self-confidence so they can determine their own route. It is a privilege to watch my clients find peace and confidence in using therapy as a space to become more in tune with their own gut and their own path, rather than being overwhelmed by always trying to meet the expectations of others.

When you enter my therapy room you will be the driver of your healing and growth roadtrip, not a passive recipient of therapy who’s hitching a ride in the backseat and snoring the whole ride. My role as the therapist will be to ride shotgun and help you process and digest changes and unexpected forks in the road. I will bring my experience and openly share knowledge and tools that may help you find your ideal path to your desired destination. But the route we take is ultimately up to you, as you hold the map of your own journey. I bring a road trip cooler stocked with tools, mindfulness strategies, and my unwavering belief in the potential for growth and healing. We use these tools to tease out the complexity of decisions of all sizes, in hopes of releasing the pressure of expectation and finding more alignment with your true self. As a therapist I am a neutral source of support to help my clients process the anxiety and disappointment when their expectations of their journey of life isn’t met, and together we help them find the courage to reassess their route and continue on.

Together, we will find the silver linings, the 'aha' moments, we will curse the patriarchy, and share some laughs- because therapy can be serious, without being super serious! My approach to therapy is to be relatable and even, dare I say, enjoyable. Sometimes when we’re out on the open road, we'll talk about movies, music, hobbies, and all the things you love- those conversations that make road trips worth it. I’m most often invited along for the ride of teens and young adults as they navigate new life milestones, but I equally enjoy working with those that are re-evaluating their needs and values in their partnership around sexuality and intimacy. As a trained family therapist, I also help families who are navigating change stay connected and come out of the challenge stronger. It’s an honor to be a trusted co-captain for my clients to find and be their authentic self, and I would be honored to ride shotgun on your journey when you are ready to begin.

Even before becoming a therapist, I've always been the kind of person who thrives on social connections, whether it's hosting cozy gatherings at my place or exploring the vibrant energy of the city with friends. Being social is not just a pastime for me; it's a way of life. I relish those meaningful conversations, laughter-filled moments, and the beauty of human connections. When I am not socializing with people, I turn my attention to my roommate’s cat, Marshmallow. When I have downtime, I enjoy looking for fun and quirky items to add to my home. From retro salt and pepper shakers to different prints of folk art, I'm a collector of the wonderfully weird and delightfully tacky. Kitsch, to me, is the art of embracing the playful and the peculiar, finding beauty in the unexpected, and celebrating the whimsical side of life!”
